The Masterminds
Assalamualaikum and Welcome,
This blog has been created by a group of students from Section 01 of ENGL 4740 'Computer Application in Language Studies' in International Islamic University Malaysia. This is a group project, whereby these students have to write posts on their point of view and reflections on the class lessons throughout the whole semester. Here are some detail about this group of students:-
AIDA AZIRA BINTI MOHAMAD
Her matric number is 1420582. She is currently in her final year and final semester of Bachelor in English Language and Literature, IIUM. She is majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Islamic Revealed Knowledge. She has five siblings including her. Here are few amazing facts about her;
1. She doesn't watch cartoons.
2. Love kids to the max.
3. She can communicate through Malaysian Sign Language.
She always had a dream to have her own kindergarten and orphanage that provide free learning class.
Other than that, she has learned the most valuable thing in ENGL 4740's classes which is patience, with the task that her group has been assigned to especially CMC. It requires a lot of details, research to be read and because of that, they need to be a detailed oriented person. After all, ENGL 4740 as a whole gives her a deeper insight of being a linguistic and triggered her to be involved in the field of Forensic Linguistic.
NUR RUQAYYA BINTI MOHD FUAD
Her matric number is 1421692. She is currently in her final year and final semester of Bachelor in English Language and Literature, IIUM. She is majoring in Literature and minoring in Islamic Revealed Knowledge. She has four siblings including her. Few interesting facts about her are;
1. She is obsessed with all shades of blue colour.
2. She is a Potterhead.
3. All her siblings are female.
She has a dream that one day she will be a Professor who will teach English Literature. Also, she used to have a dream that she will proceed her Master's Degree at University of Exeter, England. However, due to the over-expensive fee, she had to abort that dream.
Furthermore, she is very much grateful to be in Computer Application in Language Studies class. This is due to the fact that she has the ambition to be an Editor one day. So, learning English language through technology will be very useful to her in the future. She learned about Corpus and the usefulness of Concordancer which are both very impressive according to her. She had no idea that a Concordancer could solve so many problems. For instance, crime-solving, searching for medical terminologies, and expand the vocabulary of students who are learning language. Also, she hopes that she could spread the knowledge which she had acquired throughout this class to others.
NURUL HUDA BINTI ROSLAN
Her matric number is 1423162. She is currently in her final year and final semester of Bachelor in English Language and Literature, IIUM. She is majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Islamic Revealed Knowledge. She has seven siblings including her. Here are few interesting facts about her;
1. She loves to draw and very passionate about arts
2. She doesn't like jewelry and makeups
3. She loves to play video games and interested in football since I grew up along with 7 male siblings.
4. She has a Paedophobia
Also, she has a dream to have her own art studio as her sweet escape and own a bakery shop. She learned so many things throughout the semester in Computer Application in Language Studies' classes. She realized that teaching and learning process does not confine with whiteboard and sheets of exercises only, but it can be conducted very creatively and interactively with the assist of technology. She is interested in CALL that we've learned so far in developing language skills. She hopes that more educational institutions would use and benefit this approach in the pedagogy and of course, she will definitely won't miss a chance in exploring more about CALL.
Apart from that, she hopes with more advanced technology in the future, the educational institutions and students would fully benefit the use of technology incorporation in education without neglecting the traditional way of education. It is easier, faster and very much user-friendly which she believes would assist in the process of teaching and learning. She could see herself assisting her children in using this approach.
SHAKINAH BINTI RAHAM
Her matric number is 1414216. She is currently in her final year and final semester of Bachelor in English Language and Literature, IIUM. She is majoring in Linguistics. She has five siblings including her. Here are few amazing facts about her;
1. She can speak 5 languages.
2. She loves foods so much. 😎
When she is dwelling in Forensic Linguistic's topic under Computer Application in Language Studies' class, she has a dream to excel in Criminology.
The biggest lesson which she has learned from ENGL 4740's classes is that every minute thing related to technology can be beneficial to language learning and teaching process. She hopes that she can establish a program that can be used by teachers and students to enhance their teaching and learning skills.
